 Dr. Kamden Badger is originally from Jefferson, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State University in 2014. After graduation, Dr. Badger moved to Memphis, TN where she attended Southern College of Optometry and graduated in May of 2022. During optometry school, she decided to stay in Tennessee and joined the practice in July of 2022. In her free time, she likes to explore East Tennessee with her significant other Jack, try new restaurants, and spend time with family and friends.

Top 2 Tips to Ensure Maximum Eye Health

1. Eye exams should begin as early as 6 months old.
a. Having your infant’s eyes examined can ensure they are on the right path to healthy development. She further recommends eye exams at 3 years and 5 years. Children especially need an eye exam prior to entering school to make sure their focusing and eye teaming are functioning properly.
2. Remember the 20/20/20 rule.
a. When using screens, such as phones, tablets, computers, and video games, we tend to blink significantly less than normal. This can lead to burning, blurry vision, eye strain, headaches, and watering. When on a near device, follow the 20/20/20 rule to prevent these symptoms. Every 20 minutes, look out in the distance 20 ft for 20 seconds. During annual eye exams, I examine for signs of dry eye and will suggest a treatment plan if needed.
