Top 3 Tips to Maintain Optimal Eye Care
1. Keep a good diet.
Proper nutrition can work wonders in keeping your eyes healthy. A diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and vitamins C and E has been shown to drastically reduce ailments such as cataracts and macular degeneration. Melons and other citrus fruits are an excellent way to start your day and can work to keep your eyes healthy.
2. Stop smoking – now.
Smoking can drastically increase your likelihood of developing both cataracts and optic nerve damage. Don't let past failed attempts keep you from quitting. Dr. Louthan and the staff at Halls Vision Clinic believe in your ability to quit!
3. Find a good pair of sunglasses.
Some pairs of sunglasses are designed to keep the harmful ultraviolet light from the sun from fully penetrating your eyes. These sunglasses are a practical and useful item to have. They are especially important if you spend long periods of time outside as too much exposure to ultraviolet light can lead to cataracts or macular degeneration.
